Adult Religious Education  2008

The Adult Religious Education at the UUCLV is organized to give each individual the opportunity to develop and explore his or her individual religious or spiritual identity. Our education affirms and promotes the values of the 7 Principles and draws upon the many sources of our living tradition including teachings from world religions, wisdom from other cultures, Humanist understandings of science and reason as well as the direct experiences of those men and woman who confront the structures of power and injustice with love, compassion and wisdom.

Together, we can build a strong community empowered by the knowledge of our faith and the temperance of that knowledge with the 7 Principles that guide our actions to do good without exploitation of harm to others, the environment of the community within which we live.

We reach to the future by preparing ourselves for tomorrow. Mutual respect, affirmation for the student and the open quest for the truth are the foundations for spiritual growth. As we grow, we are better able to model our faith and spirituality with integrity. We recognize the human worth and dignity in others as well as ourselves. With an increasing commitment to our faith, we build stronger bonds within our community and deepen the spiritual bonds that unite us together in our pursuit for justice, equality and tolerance.

As our inner work moves into our outer work of social actions, we display to our community and the world the peace that comes through the recognition of our human dignity and the interdependent web of all existence of which we are part.
